Great Bear Sugar House invites your staff and students to a unique educational experience in the fresh air, custom designed for students of all age groups. Tours typically take three hours. The introduction explains maple production beginning with First Nations to the present, the importance of maple to the rural economy and an understanding of where and how this special food product came to be. Highlights: 1 Demonstrations and displays of both modern and antique tools and equipment 2 Taste samples of maple products from sap to sugar followed by generous servings of taffy on the snow and a Great Bear specialty, maple dipped marshmallows, two picnic tables will seat up to 200 for lunch break 3 Ample parking for several buses at our location, 3549 Route 105. 4 For the benefit of the teaching staff we have published an essay, "The Magic of Maple" which once booking has been made, may be downloaded.
